Towards Real-Time Execution of Motion Tasks

چکیده
The goal of the research described in this paper is to build robotic systems that can execute motion tasks in real time. We present two ideas towards this goal: a real-time path planner for static three-dimensional con guration spaces and a new framework for the integration of planning and control. The planner is based on a new class of cells, slippery cells, incorporated in an approximate cell decomposition algorithm. The elastic band concept is proposed to provide an e ective link between planning and execution. With elastic bands, a path is treated as a exible entity. The initial con guration of the elastic band is the path provided by the planner. The shape of the elastic dynamically evolves during execution, using sensory data about the environment.

متن کاملA Design-Space Exploration for Allocating Security Tasks in Multicore Real-Time Systems
The increased capabilities of modern real-time systems (RTS) expose them to various security threats. Recently, frameworks that integrate security tasks without perturbing the real-time tasks have been proposed, but they only target single core systems. However, modern RTS are migrating towards multicore platforms. This makes the problem of integrating security mechanisms more complex, as desig...

متن کاملTowards Safe Real-Time Robot Teleoperation: Automatic Whole-Sensitive Arm Collision Avoidance Frees the Operator for Global Control
In traditional teleoperation systems, the operator is saddled with two distinct tasks: 1) move the robot arm to its desired position, and 2) avoid obstacles that can obstruct the robot arm manipulator. To accomplish these tasks, an area of current teleoperation research is involved with providing the operator with as much input information about the task site as possible using, for example, ste...
